NEW Acquisitions
13
April – 28 May 2005
34 LONG, Cape Town’s most exciting new art space, opened some months ago with a hugely successful exhibition which established the gallery firmly as a showcase for local and international art.
On 13 April 2005 34LONG will do it again, this time with a spicy, unique collection of works from the gallery’s contemporary holdings.
New works by world-renowned artists will be exhibited for the first time in South Africa. Substantial works in various media by Jenny Saville, Thomas Ruff, Takashi Murakami, William Kentridge, Willie Bester, Zwelethu Mthethwa, Esther Mahlangu and Speelman Mahlangu will be on show, and there will be exciting surprises from artists whose work has not been exhibited at 34 LONG before. These include Peter Clarke, Dumile Feni amongst others.
A highlight of the show will be an impressive series of work by veteran artist Robert Hodgins, recently repatriated from abroad.
All art lovers are invited to this extraordinary opportunity to acquire fresh work by artists of the highest repute. And what’s more, in June 34 Long will host an auction of contemporary art works, to which the public will be invited to contribute works they may wish to put up for sale. More about this exciting event later!
