Norman Catherine
( 1949 - )
|
Norman was born in East London,
in 1949.
An extremely versatile artist working in various media and different
styles. Works in oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache, ink,
wood, fiberglass, airbrush, wire, metal and
various graphic media. He uses strong, bright colours and symbols.

throughout South Africa, Italy, Switzerland, France,
UK, West Germany and the USA

bone, wire and wood.

After an
absence of nearly five years artist Norman Catherine is back in mainstream
circulation with an amazing Solo exhibition at the Goodman Gallery,
Johannesburg. ( until 6 May 2000 ) The exhibition coincided with a
launch of a book entitled " Norman Catherine ". There are three
different issues of the book available: The Standard, De Luxe and
Collectors editions. All consist of 184 pages with 183 full colour
illustrations.

Profile:
1973 Began collaboration on Fook Island
concept with the late Walter Battiss
Between 1982 and 1986 spent two years working in New York and Los
Angeles, USA.
Through the years his style as well as content changed considerably.
